Pedro Aguilera Cortés is a Spanish Roma activist.

He holds a degree in Political Sciences and Public Administration from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a Master’s degree in NGO management from ESADE Business School.

He represented Spain as a member of ECRI (European Commission against Racism and Intolerance) at the Council of Europe, and he was chairman of the board of the European Roma Information Office (ERIO) and the National Contact Point of ROMED, a joint initiative by the EU and the Council of Europe.

He has also been a member of the Roma Intergroup at the Catalan Parliament during the last two sessions.

As an external advisor he developed the strategic plan for the Roma Catalan Culture Institute and was a member of the team creating the “Roma Strategic City Plan” in the city of Barcelona.

He has published several articles and reports about Roma and their political and social participation.

Currently he works as an expert for the Spanish Roma Council (Participation and Europe Agenda Group), last December he was appointed as a member of the Open Society Institute Board (Roma Initiatives).

He has been involved in several European projects, such as “Romanistan” or “VET4Roma”.
