Claudia Engels, born 1980 in San José, Costa Rica, studied art education and art therapy at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts.

She pursued a Magister Artium in ethnology, with art history and sociology as minors, at Berlin’s Freie Universität and completed her studies with a Master’s degree in visual anthropology/ethnographic documentary at the University of Manchester.

Her project experience was primarily gained in various documentary film productions and deepened through advanced training in project management.
From 2014 to 2016 she was responsible at sauerbrey | raabe. büro für kulturelle angelegenheiten for organising and running various events at the intersection of art, education, politics, and scholarly research.

Since 2016 she has been working as a project coordinator for RomArchive.
